A Comparison of Road Saddle Weight

Comparing our Mags saddle to well padded, lightweight saddles: We designed the Mags to be in a category of its own: the lightest weight well-padded saddle available. There are lesser padded saddles that are close to and even lighter than the Mags, but here’s the thing: the Mags carbon shell and rails weighs 68g and has no rider weight limit. That means we looked at the opportunity cost of offering a sub 100g saddle and after extensive testing, we (and our pelvic/sit bones) felt strongly that we could ride consistently day in and day out in more comfort with the additional padding we added to the Mags. We fine tuned that padding to mold to the pelvic bones, not bottom out, and to be soft while still allowing the rider to transfer every performance-related watt possible to the pedals. To compare the shape of the Mags and the soft tissue and thigh chafing relief the Mags offers, please see our prior post titled “Why Mags?”

If a saddle is not in this list, it’s because we don’t feel it is well enough padded to make it comparable to the Mags saddle.

The increase in price per gram saved when comparing Wove’s Mags saddle to the Sworks Power and Romin Mirror saddles is a $2.13 increase per gram saved. For comparison, the increase in price per gram saved for a set of NSW 353's over 303 S wheels is $12.70, 6x more.
